Bars, Pubs and Clubs in Dublin - or how to get wasted!
Dublin's nightlife is mainly focussed on the Temple Bar district. Of course there are plenty of other fine areas to party but this district concentrates all activities. You can find uncountable pubs, bars and club there as well as numerous mixed sites that combine drinking and dancing for example.
The world-famous "Temple-Bar" lies in the very heart of the district with the same name and needs to be visited at all costs. You cannot possibly miss it owing to its red signal-like coloring and it's much bigger than you might guess from the outside.
It offers a nice atmosphere as all rooms are interconnected which conveys a friendly and open image. You can watch sport events on the big screen, hang out in the chill area or can listen to traditional live music. No need to mention that most people drink Guinness there - it's all about tradition in that place.
A similar location is the "Fitzsimmons" which also offers enough space to party on its four levels. You can find it at the end of Temple Bar's main road and the friendly bouncers let you in without paying admission.
If you're out for an even fancier experience, have a look at the "Club M", the "Boomerangs" or the "SIN Club". All these night clubs can be found in Temple Bar as well but make sure to dress smart, otherwise they won't let you in. By the way, that's also the place to look for beautiful women which sometimes also happen to get drunk quite heavily - the later it gets of course.
Apart from these tourist places the traditional side of Ireland can also be found in the side streets. Pubs like the "Ha'Penny Bridge Inn" offer traditional live music every evening, allowing the audience to make suggestions as well. Be prepared to be asked to sing along and clap your hands quite often!
Ireland is the country of Guinness and beer and that's why you shouldn't necessarily start with asking for exotic cocktails or fancy drinks - they're way too expensive anyway.
You'd better go for a pint (approximately 0.6 liters) of beer, the average price is around 5,- Euros (7 Dollars). Also make sure to have an identification with you, the law for the protection of the youth is followed quite strictly in Ireland. Another positive side is that Ireland follows a very strict prohibition of tobacco in closed premises, therefore all smokers are banned to open air areas in order to protect the other guests from their smoke.
