One of the most famous beers in the world undoubtedly is Guinness. The Guinness brewery exists since 1759 and can be regarded as one of the most famous attractions of Dublin and Ireland. The Irish are particularly proud of their beer and therefore a visit to the Guinness Storehouse is a must for every serious Dublin visitor. Tickets can be bought in advance online at www.guiness-storehouse.com, which has the advantage of reducing both waiting at the cashier and your ticket price by 10 percent.
Inside you'll find the 250 years of Guinness history covered thoroughly, including a detailed explanation of how this beer is made. By the way, the entrance fee also includes a complimentary pint of Guinness that you can enjoy in the Gravity Bar on top of the Guinness Storehouse Museum. This bar also offers a brilliant 360° view over Dublin. At the end of your visit, make sure to check out the Guinness Store where you can find lots of strange and funny merchandising.
One more note: students will get a discount on the entrance fee, depending on their age (older/younger than 18). Visiting the Guinness Storehouse in the morning is definitely recommended as you won't have to cope with that many visitors and queues yet.
The Guinness storehouse is located within 15 minutes walking distance from the city center. If you're too lazy to walk, just take the city bus number 123 departing from O'Connell Street/Trinity College. Its opening hours are from 9.30am till 5pm and during July and August, you can even stay there until 7pm. However this always means the time of last admission, the museum is usually open one hour more after its official opening time. More infos can be found at www.guinness-storehouse.com.
